In Soviet Russia...

Wed Apr 9, 2008, 2:39 PM
  • Mood: Excited
  • Listening to: When You're Evil - Voltaire
  • Reading: Othello and some T.S. Eliot
  • Watching: Batman The Animated Series
  • Playing: Shadow of the Colossus
  • Eating: Pork Roast with baked taters
  • Drinking: Water (as usual D:)
It's been a long time since I've actually posted a journal entry, or atleast it's felt that way. Not a whole lot to update. I'm creatively drained, dreading the SAT's and fearful of graduation.

Of course with the onset of the rest of my life, my mother is trying to push me in the direction of getting my license. Fine, I'll get my permit after all this time but thinking about actually driving really does get me fearful and anxious. I'm honestly afraid of driving, period. So I've been very reluctant all this time.

I recently went on a game beating binge and nearly finished KH2. Completed everything in .Hack//G.U. volume one (and I absolutley loathe Gaspard. >.< and finding my self liking Piros the Third more and more), and finished normal mode in Shadow of the Colossus. The final colossus took me forever because I kept falling off of his hands and having to get allll the way back up there and then it took me ages to see where I needed to strike so I could get closer to the symbol on his head.

Ahm.. Voltaire is my current musical obsession. It all started when I heard "When You're Evil".. It's just so damned catchy and gives a more playful or upbeat side to being sinister. Aaaand I downloaded all 4 seasons of "Batman: The animated Series". Just as good as I remember, I just love the film noir feel with 1920's archistecture and style mixed with the detective/Dick Tracy feel and all the crazy, obviously evil Villains (a metaphor on how obvious corruption was then). Good stuff.

I'm also very excited for Iron Man and The Dark Knight that will be coming to theatres soon. Tony Stark is the only hard-drinking, haunted, womanizing jackass that seems to have been made into an actually likable character. Then for The Dark Knight, two words, The Joker. 'Nuff said.

Though the real reason I'm excited is Friday. I (hopefully) will get to see Bailey for the first time in what will be 3 weeks very shortly. Oh how I've missed seeing her >.< but her family and her have been sick and they just recently got better. Soo.. I can't wait. The anticipation makes the monotony of my school week bearable.

Ok, I'll make sure to come get you...

I just hope I'll be there on time. Since I have to goto school on Friday too. I've got lots of make up work to do.

Voltaire is my lover!

Have you ever heard The Vagina Song or If I Only Were a Goth?

Not yet but a torrent just finished with a bunch of his CD's

Ah, but I really do love "When You're Evil" and "Graveyard Picnic" with all the blatant Poe references.

So I'm not too worried if you're late by a few minutes but if it's over an hour I'll get worried.

Graveyard Picnic is the song that made me love him. That was a looong time ago... *is an old lady*

Dead Girls is a really good one, too. Probably my favourite.

Old! Psh. I'm the ancient one. :P
Ah, I really enjoy his album "Banned On Vulcan". Caters to the nerd in me. Though I really do like the dark but light-hearted lyrics and folksy sound. It's another one of those sounds I think sounds fresh because of all the stale conventions of normal music. (OKAY GUYS! Two guitars, a bass and a drummer)

Oh and I adore Gogol Bordello too! Start wearing purple just started it all. Like The clash and the Pogues clashing in eastern Europe (as one critic put it).
